I've known I wanted to build something ever since reading The Fountainhead 15 years ago. While reading the book one of the main characters, Roark says "If he doesn't build, when he has the means, it's because his life has not been what he wanted." I didn't know what, but I've known it would have to happen.
After five years of hyper-growth, I left Slack in 2021, and before joining Productboard, I seriously considered starting my own, but Julie and I had our second kid, and with believing in putting family (your first team) first, the timing felt like too much of a risk. Now 3 years later. It's time.
